Team 2 Day 22 (Claire)
Day 22
Claire here. I woke up this morning feeling healthy as ever, which was quite remarkable considering I went to bed 12 hours earlier with a fever, chills, and all the tell tale signs of being a sick little duckling. I was so grateful to wake up feeling well, and with none of those symptoms so I could keep biking with my team. And what better way to kick it back into gear than a 100 mile day! That's right, today we rode 102 miles from grassrange to Jordan, Montana. It feels ridiculous to say, and maybe this is just in comparison to our last 100 mile day, but it went pretty smoothly. It felt like we cruised the first 30 miles, then we were lucky enough to take a much needed rest around 70 miles in in Sand Springs, a one building town that included a post office, mini Mart, deli, antique shop, and probably even more that I am not even aware of. Let it be noted that we seriously considered buying the 5 pairs of matching vintage cowboy boots to add to the team ham uniform, but had to pass on account that they did not come in a clip-less style. The only real downside to the day was the attack of the grasshoppers. Why these creatures feel the need to sit exactly where they are destined to get run over, then respond to stimuli by vaulting themselves at our ankles, through our wheels and even sometimes into our helmets, I will never know. We were so happy to arrive in Jordan and settled into a city park to camp for the night where another bike touring couple from the Netherlands was already set up. They were heading westbound, while we are heading eastbound, so we exchanged some information, and chatted for a bit with them. It was then time for dinner, on the menu for tonight was Mac and cheese with sauteed zucchini and mushrooms mixed in, chefs kiss. Now's it's time for bed as we gear up for our ride to Circle tomorrow! Will update y'all on how circular things actually are. Love y'all, goodnight.
