Team 2 day 18 (Claire)
Claire here. We set out to a pretty big goal today, Cut Bank to Great Falls, 112 miles. What followed was definitely more than we expected. After a little bit of a late start at 9am, we cruised the first 25 miles to Shelby where we got on the road we would be on for the next 82 miles. What followed was a whole lot of unexpected, including 2 flat tires, surprise subway for lunch, and a sag-wagon rescue at 5pm. We also did realize about 75 miles miles in, that there was parallel frontage roads that we could have been riding down instead of the highway, which we promptly switched to after a proper face palm. Due to the flats, sag-wagon pickup and a late start, we ended up fighting to beat the sun by the end of the day and rolled in to town just ask dusk was setting. Though luckily, we were greeted by the cutest little corgi who chased us all the way down one of the streets we passed through. I'll be honest, it was definitely the least pleasant days so far, but I am truly proud of everyone. Cheers to (hopefully) a better day tomorrow!
