Team 1 Day 1 (Keelin)

 Day 1- Keelin:

Riding to Anacortes all that was on my mind was not throwing up from the nerves of starting the biggest bike ride of my life. Had loaded up on egg scramble for breakfast in Bellingham, but none of us could seem to stomach much food right before we started around 12:30-1pm. It was in the grocery store that morning that we began to discover what similar tastes the three of us have in food. We all walked out of there with an insanely caloric and sugar dense peach parfait smoothie that we would never recommend to our future patients after reading the label… seemed perfect for our big bad a** ride though.

First day was majority bike path- good because we were away from cars and it was incredibly scenic, bad because we got our fair share of dirt, dust, and debris thrown our way.

The place that we started, a coastal town filled with boats and seaside rock cliffs was replaced with the meadows, cows, and farms of the place we ended. The last 7 miles were filled with climbing but we eventually made it to camp! Nice tent sites with a stream of glacial melt- only Liz was crazy enough to get in. Nothing could have tasted better than our celebratory beer at the local bar across from the campground. The second point in time where we realized we all had very similar taste….
